Privacy Policy
[REVIEW THIS BEFORE PUBLISHING. It is written to match a plain static site with affiliate links and basic analytics. If you add a newsletter, comments, ads, or a contact form, this page has to change to match. If you’re unsure of your obligations under GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA or Japan’s APPI, take advice — this is a starting point, not legal advice.]

The short version
This site doesn’t ask you for anything. There’s no account to create, no newsletter to join, and no comment box. The only data that changes hands is what your browser sends automatically, plus cookies set by booking platforms when you click through to them.
What this site collects directly
Nothing you type, because there’s nothing to type into.
The site is served as static files. Standard server logs may record your IP address, browser type, and the pages you requested — the ordinary technical record any web server keeps. These are used to keep the site running and are not used to identify you.
Analytics
[If you use analytics, describe it here. If you don’t, delete this section.]
If using a privacy-focused analytics tool (Plausible, Fathom, GoatCounter): This site uses [TOOL], a privacy-focused analytics service that does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. It records aggregate page views and referrers so I can see which articles people find useful. No individual visitor is tracked across sessions or sites.
If using Google Analytics: This site uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies and collects data about how you use the site, including your IP address. This data is shared with Google. See Google’s privacy policy. You can opt out using Google’s browser add-on. A cookie consent banner is required for EU and UK visitors if you use this.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links — see the affiliate disclosure for the full picture.
When you click one, the destination (for example Booking.com or Klook) and the partner network that tracks the referral will set cookies in your browser. Those cookies tell them the visit came from this site so any resulting commission is attributed correctly.
This happens on their side, not mine. I receive only aggregate reporting — how many clicks and bookings occurred. I don’t see your name, your booking details, your payment information, or your travel dates.
Those companies’ handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies:
If you’d rather not be tracked, you can visit those sites directly instead of using the links here, or block third-party cookies in your browser.
Cookies set by this site
This site sets no cookies of its own. Cookies you pick up while browsing come from third parties as described above.
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Doing so won’t affect how this site works.
External links
Articles link to third-party sites — government pages, transport operators, news outlets, booking platforms. Once you follow one, this policy no longer applies. I have no control over how those sites handle your data.
Children
This site isn’t directed at children and doesn’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you, and to object to its processing.
Since this site holds no personal data about you beyond standard server logs, there is in practice very little to act on. For requests concerning data held by the booking platforms or analytics provider, contact them directly using the links above.
